Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
